"It’s a story that can give each of us insight into the healing process. Highly recommended."
~ Dr. Turner ~
I told my wild-but-true story, not because I wanted attention (trust me!), but because I learned too much to sit on it and it wasn't just about me.
My book is currently available from Amazon and will be distributed in more places and on this site in the near future.
Thank you for your interest in patient rights.

"PSAN is a coalition of individuals and organizations consisting of patients who have been medically harmed, their loved ones, and concerned patient safety advocates.
Most of us have first-hand experience with medical harm and its impact upon our loved ones and ourselves. With this moral obligation and authority, we unite to eliminate preventable medical errors, to save lives, and to advocate and support policies that promote patient safety." ~ PSAN About page ~
Now this is an organization you can trust because members have true intentions of making the world a better place. They are driven by their heartbreaking, ground-shaking experiences. Be sure to check out their Resources page.
According to the CJ&D website, "the Center for Justice & Democracy is the only national consumer organization in the country exclusively dedicated to protecting our civil justice system."
Why is this important, and did you notice that word, "only?"
As tort reform has proven, our justice system can be manipulated to favor and shield harm-doers vs helping victims of negligence access the courts and/or receive compensation for injuries as deemed fair by a jury. The imbalance of power is real and ongoing.
CJ&D has been working for accountability and public education for the past 25 years! Their work is prolific and they provide a wealth of information and boots-on-the-ground work representing consumers. Founding member, Joanne Doroshow appeared in the documentary Hot Coffee and was a coordinating producer of the documentary Sicko (see below).
"Our public service mission is to spread the word about the life-saving benefits of Independent Patient Advocacy and make advocacy services available to everyone at GNANOW.ORG." ~ Greater National Advocates About page ~
Interested in hiring a patient advocate to suit your needs or have a desire to be one? This reputable organization was founded by malpractice lawyer, L. Bradley Schwartz, who lost his limbs due to malpractice injuries.
Hot Coffee is a documentary that discusses the genesis of tort reform and presents several cases as examples of its impact on human lives. You will be stunned!
Sicko is a Michael Moore documentary that compares and contrasts healthcare in America vs other countries. You will be stunned again!
We all have a story in us, but not everyone is an English major. And when you go through something traumatic, it's not easy to find the words to make sense of such nonsense. So I'm here to tell you that writing is an effective way of rediscovering yourself, and if I could publish a book, so can you!
Here are two amazing sources that have free information and paid programs to guide you on all aspects of your author journey:
Self Publishing School: This is the A-Z program I signed up with when I embarked on writing. They offered much guidance in the form of live office hours coaches and web courses, plus done-for-you services. Honestly, I wasn't a good student for many reasons so I missed or brushed over half of the A-Zs, but SPS saw me through to the end anyway.
I somehow landed on a free webinar tutorial hosted by Bryan Cohen, founder of Best Page Forward. Now that I'm on his list, I receive invitations all the time for his freebies. Bryan is very generous and the webinars are super helpful at marketing bubbledeegook for self-publishers.
